LEGO has announced the next set in its Lord of the Rings line. It’s a 5,471-piece build of Barad-dûr, Sauron’s iconic stronghold featuring a dark tower topped with the Eye of Sauron. The set will cost $459.99 and will be available exclusively at the LEGO Store on June 4. However, LEGO Insiders will be able to order it starting June 1; you can sign up here for free.

Available June 1 for LEGO Insiders, June 4 for everyone else.

If you purchase the Barad-dûr set between June 1-7, you can also get a Fell Beast set for free (while supplies last, and they don’t tend to last long). It has 269 pieces and includes a Nazgul minifigure.

The Barad-dûr LEGO set is a big build that includes lots of Easter eggs and references to the movies. It also comes with 10 minifigures, including Sauron, Mouth of Sauron, an Orc, Frodo, Sam, Gollum, and Gothmog.

The rear of the set is open and features various rooms to stage the minifigures. There’s a lava-filled dungeon area where you can hang a skeleton minifig in a cage. There’s a throne room and a compartment that opens to reveal a map, plus a ladder going up the tower that you can move left and right. The set also comes with a light brick to make the eye glow.

LEGO says the build is divided into four main sections, and that the tower is fully modular. Check it out in the slideshow gallery.

This set follows last year’s LEGO Lord of the Rings Rivendell set, which is similarly large in size and intricately detailed. You can check out our interview with the designers of that set to get an idea of how they went about making it.

Considering the price, this new Tolkien-inspired set will definitely be among the most expensive LEGO sets available. It may also join the Rivendell set on our list of the best LEGO sets overall. In other news, the second season of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power has a trailer and a release date.
