Ultra Chill Water Diversion Game ‘Roia’ Now Available

Last month we told you that developer Emoak Studio, creators of such titles as Machinaero and Lyxo, were working on a new game called Roia, and it’s my pleasure to inform you that Roia is now available in the app Store. The concept in Roia is that you’re guiding water from its source through all sorts of different terrain, with the goal of connecting the water source to the ocean. The way you manipulate the terrain is very cool, as you’ll simply raise and lower elevations in order to nudge the water stream in the direction you want it to go. It’s much easier said than done, of course. All the while this mesmerizing stream of water is playfully bouncing around the terrain, trying desperately to move ever downward. Here is the Roia trailer in case you missed it before.

Accompanying you on your journey is a tiny bird who will fly along with you and land at key areas, letting out a tweet to let you know where in the terrain you should be aiming to guide the water. The whole experience is set to an absolutely beautiful piano score, and while the actual gameplay in Roia is surprisingly challenging (water and physics don’t always want to cooperate with you!), the whole atmosphere of the game is so chill and there’s never any pressure or anything like that. It’s super relaxing, actually. If you dig this sort of meditative gaming experience, and enjoy water physics and cool terrain manipulation, I wouldn’t hesitate to toss a few bucks at Roia and see what it’s all about.
