Creatures Of Ava’s First Reviews Suggest It’s Worth A Play On Xbox Game Pass

“Surely one of the year’s coolest surprises”

We’ve known about Creatures of Ava coming to Xbox Game Pass for a while now, and we’ve been interested in it ever since! Fortunately it sounds like it’s worth the hype, as it has a very decent 78 average rating on Metacritic.

These first reviews are almost entirely for the PC version (we didn’t get access to an Xbox code until recently, so we’re assuming it’s the same for everyone else), but nevertheless, there shouldn’t be too many differences on console.

Here’s a sample of what some reviewers are saying about Creatures of Ava so far:

God Is A Geek (8.5/10)

“Despite an overall lack of challenge and the sense that Creatures of Ava plays a lot of things very safe, it’s still a lovely, cozy game that gives you a reason to explore its world and care about its characters.”

GameSpot (8/10)

“With a story that goes harder than one might expect and gameplay that routinely throws new tools and challenges in front of you, Creatures of Ava is surely one of the year’s coolest surprises.”

CGM (7/10)

Creatures of Ava is another solid example of what a cozy game can be with a little ingenuity and experimentation. Its world and gameplay provide a laid-back enough experience to push players forward. While it might not set the world on fire, it does add a little more light to it, which is pretty good in my book.”

At the time of writing (but we’re assuming this’ll change very soon), Creatures of Ava is the first Xbox Game Pass title scheduled for August’s lineup, arriving on Wednesday, August 7th. It’s also an Xbox console exclusive at launch.

You can check out the launch trailer up above if you’re interested, and we’ll let you know when it goes live on the service.
