Former Xbox Boss Reveals How Apple Watch Played ‘Big Role’ In Saving His Life
It could have been a disastrous situation
If you’ve been following the world of Xbox since the early days, you’ll almost certainly remember Peter Moore – he was the Xbox boss back in the mid 2000s, and famously revealed Halo 2 and GTA 4 with tattoos of both games.
Moore has been in the news this week for something entirely unrelated to gaming though – as it turns out, an Apple Watch actually saved his life recently when it revealed that his heart rate had dropped to a concerning level.
Here’s what he had to say in an interview with KLTA:
“I felt a little lightheaded and a little faint, and like a typical male, I thought, ‘I’ll go to Starbucks. That’ll fix it’.”
“My phone started to ping and said ‘low heart rate,’ which I’d never seen before. And so I looked at it… my heart rate had dropped to 32.”
Following this, Moore’s wife rushed him to hospital where he was advised he required a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat. The cardiac electrophysiologist who treated him stated the Apple Watch played a “big role” in saving his life.
It goes without saying that an Apple Watch can’t detect everything (such as heart attacks), so obviously there are limitations with it. But in Moore’s case, he says he “wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for this little device”. Crazy!
