What’s the deal with the button in Tycoon RNG?

What’s the deal with the button in Tycoon RNG?
  • Roblox’ varied experiences often have mysterious easter eggs
  • One of them in particular is Tycoon RNG and a strange, semi-hidden button
  • We dug into it, but you might not find the truth too exciting

When it comes to Roblox’s varied experiences, a lot of them tend to have some sort of hidden bonus or other kind of reward. And it seems that one of the more popular ones our SEO wizard Ivan spotted is Tycoon RNG, where everyone is talking about the button. “What does the button do? Are there any more buttons?” Like the technicians at a nuclear reactor who have lost the manual, the buttons are the main point of contention with this game.

So here’s what the buttons in Tycoon RNG do, or rather, don’t do.

What’s the deal with the button?

Drum roll, please.

Nothing. You tap it and it turns black. After all the research I did (including trying it for myself) that’s what I found. Disappointing, right? Well, not exactly. I’m going to assume it’s entirely possible you’re either a younger reader, or only ever played Roblox experiences. But you’ll note that Tycoon RNG says it’s in Alpha, and that in this case, you should expect that the button is meant to tease something that’ll be added at a later point.

Of course there is the possibility that this button does something that simply hasn’t been uncovered yet. But I feel that’s more unlikely, since with probably a few hundred people tinkering with it you’d have expected something to be revealed. That and I don’t want to encourage anyone to sit around messing with that button for hours on end either.

There’s also the fact that, according to folks on the game’s Reddit page (who probably spend a lot more time on the game than us) there’s also a button beneath the actual floating island. Although getting to that is a whole other story in itself, so we didn’t get the chance to check.

My personal theory

Look, I was a bit late to jump on the Roblox train as a kid, apart from the very early days. But what I do remember is the theory-crafting and other such digging people did into many indie games throughout the 2010s, and I reckon that these buttons are there to intentionally tease players and garner attention (which, ironically is exactly what we’re doing.)

Not to say this is a bad thing, and I’m sure at some point they’ll definitely amount to something, but for now I reckon that they’re there to encourage people to dig into them and be curious about what they could do.

One hint is when you speak to an NPC in the central crafting area, when asked about the button they ask if you mean the “gate switch” before quickly ending the conversation. More than likely, that means this is going to be a part of some sort of endgame content down the line, as a means to unlock it.
