India is likely to ban 34 multivitamins soon, sources told CNBC TV-18. This development follows the recent ban on 156 Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs.
According to the sources, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) is currently evaluating and reviewing the approvals granted by various states for these 34 multivitamins.
This move aligns with new regulations that prohibit states from approving drugs without the explicit permission of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
The potential ban is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to regulate and ensure the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals in the country. Further details are awaited as the review process continues.
