As part of the Dell Labor Day Sale, Dell is currently offering some great deals on the Dell XPS gaming desktop PC. The stock model is equipped with an Intel Core i7 CPU and a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GPU for $1249.99. This is a solid price by itself, but the GPU upgrades are also uncommonly affordable. For example, you can upgrade to as powerful as a GeForce RTX 4090 and still get a great deal. The XPS sports a more understated asthetic compared to Alienware, but don’t be fooled; this is a well built rig with capable hardware that’s perfect for 1080p gaming at a more affordable price point than an Alienware PC.

This configs are all equipped with an Intel Core i7-14700 CPU, your choice of GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The 14th gen i7-14700 CPU boasts a turbo clock speed of 5.4GHz with 20 cores, 28 threads, and a 28MB cache. The i7 CPU is generally considered to be nearly identical to the i9 in terms of gaming performance because the vast majority of games out there can’t take advantage of the i9’s extra cores. By default the system is powered by an efficient 750W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, although selecting the RTX 4090 option will also require the 1000W PSU upgrade.

The Dell XPS Is a Good Budget Alienware Alternative
The Dell XPS lineup isn’t as flashy as its Alienware counterparts or other high-end gaming PCs. Instead you get a no-nonsense value-packed gaming rig that features a compact chassis with a sensible cooling layout and an easy to access interior with upgradeable components. This particular model is equipped with “Advanced Air Cooling”, which is essentially a tower heatsink fan combo for the CPU. For the Dell XPS in particular, this is actually better than the liquid cooling option because the AIO liquid cooler is only equipped with a small 120mm radiator that isn’t enough to handle the demands of a hot i7 processor unless the fan runs at a super high speed. The tower heatsink fan combo not only cools better, but it’s quieter as well.
