How Did A Wrench Smash A Windshield On The Interstate?

The wrench crashed through the car’s windshield while the mother and son traveled on I-65. Their family suspects the large wrench came from a truck traveling north, but police are still investigating.

The law firm representing the Earlie Harris family is offering $1,000 for information from anyone traveling on the morning of I-65 on August 8 who might’ve seen the wrench’s origins.

“It’s something you can’t miss. Somebody out there with high traffic, who was behind it, saw the object fall, bouncing down the street,” their lawyer LaBarron Boone said. “It didn’t hit them, and maybe they just continued, but it did end up killing Ms. Earlie Harris, an unbelievable servant.”

Beasley Allen Law Firm has also shared a map of the travel path and an additional description of the wrench that hit the windshield. A previous AAA study found that road debris caused more than 200,000 crashes in the U.S. between 2011 and 2014, per TSR Investigates.

As Earlie Harris’ family waits for answers, they’ve also been mourning her loss and celebrating her life. Her son reportedly told WSFA that she was big on family and a caring person.

A Facebook page with Earlie’s photos claims she studied at Troy Montgomery and was in a relationship.

One year ago, ‘Stankey Legg’ rapper OhBoyPrince spoke with TSR Investigates’ Justin Carter about the danger of road debris. At the top of 2023, an 18-wheeler brake pad flew off and hit him in the face after crashing through his windshield.
