Talking Point: Capcom, It’s Time To Get Dino Crisis On Xbox
Don’t leave us out, please
Today, the company that once produced Dino Crisis games but decided to stop bothering in the early 2000s (Capcom), has randomly dropped the first two games onto PC platform GOG. Yep, Dino Crisis 1+2 are now available to buy over there – complete with new features like enhanced DirectX rendering, 4K resolution support, new V-sync options, gamma correction, anti-aliasing and a whole lot more besides.
And, following the first game’s re-release on modern PlayStation platforms last year, this has us rather jealous over here on Xbox. Sure, lots of us have been clamouring for a new entry in this series or maybe even a proper modern overhaul of these classics, but even so – we’d still love to see the old games simply ported over to Xbox. Dino Crisis 3 is still the only series entry to release on Microsoft’s console platform!
Clearly, we’re not the only ones that want to see more of this franchise either. Last summer, the results from a Capcom fan poll revealed that new Dino Crisis is what fans want to see most from the Japanese game maker, with more than 80,000 votes being cast for the monstrous series. Dino Crisis has now been dormant (in terms of proper new releases) for more than two decades – DC3 released for OG Xbox all the way back in 2003.
While some pretty basic PC ports have prompted this little talking point here, to be honest, we’d still take those versions over here on Xbox. As we mentioned up above, Capcom has added a surprising amount of modern QOL features to these new versions, including modern controller support, which makes this even more of a no-brainer. Simple 4K releases of the first two Dino Crisis games would be very welcome, Capcom!
In the meantime, we might have to hop on over to GOG real soon and check out these fresh PC versions of Dino Crisis 1+2. Exoprimal‘s Game Pass release a few years ago was a valiant effort, but it just didn’t satisfy our dino-shooter cravings quite enough. Here’s hoping we’ll be satiated in the coming years!
