Talking Point: If GTA 6 Releases This Year, What Does Xbox Do With Fable?

Delay it? Go at the same time?!

Today, we’ve been putting a spotlight on the incredible 2025 roadmap for Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision and others, and while there are loads of amazing releases on the way, Fable is one that absolutely stands out at first glance.
It was all the way back in July of 2020 that Playground Games’ new Fable project was first revealed to the world, and although we haven’t seen much of it since, Xbox has it penned for a 2025 release – seemingly late in the year.
There’s just one problem with that though, and it arrives in the form of GTA 6. Publisher Take-Two has insisted on multiple occasions that GTA 6 will release at the end of 2025 — despite speculation that it’ll get delayed — and if that ends up being the case, it could ultimately spell disaster for whatever ends up launching alongside it.
The difficult part for Xbox, along with many other publishers with games to sell in late 2025, is that there’s no way of knowing whether GTA 6 will stick to its intended release window or not. If the game were to be delayed in summer, for example, then Microsoft would still have time to slot Fable into October or November.
If GTA 6 retains its ‘Fall 2025’ window right until the last minute though, Microsoft will need to pick a date and stick with it. Avowed seems to have really benefited from the delay that it was afforded recently, being pushed back into the calmer February period, but what if that happens to GTA as well?! There’s every chance of seeing that in 2026.
So, what are your thoughts on this? What kind of window should Xbox be targeting for Fable – especially considering GTA 6 might land around the same time? How would you handle this situation? We’re very keen to hear your thoughts!
