ROGA Launches New College Educational Program

ROGA’s new Know Your Play campaign, made in collaboration with EPIC Global Solutions, RGC, and Kindbridge Behavioral Health aims to educate college-age people on responsible gambling.
ROGA Announces Know Your Play Initiative
The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has partnered with several other major organizations to launch the Know Your Play campaign. The new program aims to provide college students with information regarding responsible gaming, mental health and well-being, and financial literacy.
The campaign will begin on college campuses over the next few weeks. It will include in-person learning sessions and workshops which will be paired with digital delivery tools such as videos to enhance accessibility and reach. This approach will ensure the program effectively engages students from various campuses and backgrounds. ROGA’s partners for this program include EPIC Global Solutions, the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), and Kindbridge Behavioral Health.
College-aged students, even if they are not enrolled in a university, can visit knowyourplay.org to get ahold of the new learning resources. These will help students learn about responsible gaming concepts such as randomness, impulsiveness, and limit setting. The resources will also dispel some myths about gambling, such as the illusion of control in sports betting. The campaign will also highlight the impact of stress and mental health on overall student well-being, offering practical tips for managing them. Furthermore, additional resources will be tested at a few select universities.
The ROGA’s new campaign aligns well with other recent initiatives that the organization has commenced. For example, last month, ROGA launched a responsible gaming certification program to further enhance the gambling industry’s responsible gambling efforts.
Officials Talk About the Program
According to ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley, college students are learning to navigate newfound financial independence. Equipping this age group with resources to make informed decisions that foster good financial habits will benefit them throughout their lives, regardless of whether they engage in gaming. Shatley further explained that while older programs have focused on student-athletes, the Know Your Play campaign, intends to educate the broader student population about responsible gaming concepts.
Teresa Fiore, SVP of Partnerships at EPIC Global Solutions also said a few words about the new initiative. According to her, EPIC brings extensive expertise and experience in creating programs that connect with college-aged audiences. The organization is excited to partner with ROGA on a campaign that will deliver essential education to college students nationwide. By blending expert knowledge with personal stories, the program seeks to promote a well-rounded understanding of financial literacy, decision-making, and risk-taking.
Meanwhile, RGC CEO Sarah McCarthy said the organization has a long history of creating prevention programs for young adults. She explained that the Know Your Play campaign will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions should they choose to gamble.
Last, but not least, Kindbridge Group CEO Daniel Umfleet highlighted the difficulties, such as financial independence and academic performance that college students face. According to her, all of these can have a negative mental effect on young people. She explained that the new program will help them build resilience, manage stress, and develop healthy habits that will serve them well beyond their college years.
